Frida the German Shepherd

Frida at Mono Lake, Calif.

Frida passed yesterday. She went peacefully, the same way she dealt with life. A fierce and natural protector with the soul of a saint, Frida was smart, loyal and graceful; she loved children, she loved Barbara, and most of all, she loved me, more than I deserved. She was an excellent traveling companion. She was my partner and the best friend a person could ask for. There never was a dog like Frida the German Shepherd.

Frida was a rescue. She walked the earth spreading her gentle presence for about 13 years. I'll miss you, girl. You were the best.

  1. Sigh!
For some reason the profile photos of our dogs say so much: sentry, closeness, elegance, calm, serenity, bonding. Thank you Kevin. Christine

  4. Who rescued who? I’ll miss her gentle presence, her fur-shedded on my yoga pants, her, tagging along behind Kevin on walks. Thank you for the pics and sweet, heartfelt epilogue. RIP, Frida.

  8. Oh Kev, and barbara, so very sorry. At least you got to love one another and share the good life for a good while. Frida was there for you through many good times and traumas. You enriched each otherʻs lives. I just stumbled on Beauʻs raincoat the other day and cried all over again, six years later.
